What Should You Expect in This Study?
The research study has certain requirements that must be met. If you do not meet the requirements, you will not be able to participate in this research study.
The process begins when you speak with a member of the study team to learn about the study activities. After you speak with the study team, you will be provided with an informed consent form to review. The form explains this research study in more detail.
If you are eligible for the study, you will work with the study team to complete the following tasks:
✓ Study Intake Form – This form shows the inclusion/exclusion criteria and requests your contact information, emergency contact information, and your main cancer doctor’s contact information. This will allow the study team to let your main cancer doctor know of your participation in SUCCEED.
✓ Medical Release Form – This form lets the study team have permission to get your medical records related to cancer.
✓ Survey – You will be asked to fill out a survey when you first start in the study.
✓ Blood Samples - You will provide a small amount of blood, (approximately 1 ½ tablespoons or 20 mL) when you first start in the study, and then again three (3) months later. Each time the study team will ship a blood collection kit to your home. You can bring this kit to a doctor or local lab (Ex: Quest Diagnostics) of your choice for the blood collection. You can also request the study team to send a phlebotomist (a medical person who can draw blood) directly to your home for the blood collection.
- All blood collected (about 2 tubes of 8-10ml each) will be sent to a biorepository using pre-paid and pre-labeled shipping materials that are provided.
- The tubes of blood will be saved for future research. Because any future research is exploratory, you will not receive those results back.
✓ Medical Records – The study team will get copies of medical records such as doctor’s progress notes, pathology reports, tumor genomic testing reports, cancer treatments (including surgeries, radiation, therapeutic agents), and imaging reports.
